UPDATE: 10:32 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 – A Deputy Coroner with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office said they have identified the person who was killed by a vehicle on May 18.
Authorities said 46-year-old Razy Lynn Tufnell, of Chico, died after suffering major injuries from a collision on Highway 273 at Buenaventura Blvd. This case is still under investigation by the Redding Police Department

REDDING, Calif. – One person was killed in Redding Monday evening after running across the road in front of a car, according to the police.
The Redding Police Officers said the driver, 25-year-old Gessica Leuschner was driving northbound on state route 273, approaching Buenaventura Blvd., when a person ran across the road in front of her car. Leuschner said she was unable to avoid striking the person.
Officers said the driver was evaluated by a DUI specialist who determined neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the collision. Speed was not reported to be a factor in the collision either.
The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
