Victim Identified in Highway 99 Crash

The Butte County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in a deadly crash on Highway 99 Tuesday.

UPDATE 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 - The Butte County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in the crash as 28-year-old Daniel Fenker. 

Correction from the previous report: The deceased was 28-years-old not 45-years-old.

CHICO, Calif. - A man was killed Tuesday morning after he drove off Highway 99 near Rio Lindo Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Chico Division.

According to CHP Officer Deleon, authorities got a call around 6:41 a.m. about a solo crash involving a white pickup truck.

The pickup truck was on southbound Highway 99 when it drove off the road and hit into an embankment, killing the driver.

The truck landed behind a veteran's hall in Rio Lindo Avenue. 

The circumstances leading up to the deadly crash are unknown and officers do not know if other vehicles were involved.

The deceased individual’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Officers on the scene only said the deceased male is 45-years-old, Caucasian and drove a white Toyota Tacoma.  

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played factors in the crash.
