SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Roy Waller, the lead suspect in the "NorCal Rapist" case, appeared in court on Monday, Sept. 24 following charges of 12 counts of forcible sexual assault.

A number of Waller's alleged victims were present at the hearing as he appeared before a judge.

The 58-year-old employee at U.C. Berkeley is suspected of raping and terrorizing more than 10 women across six counties from 1991-2006. Of these charges includes one of a Chico State student in 1997.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said that the 21-year-old victim stabbed her attacker with a pair of scissors, and the blood from the pillowcase matched Waller's DNA, which led to his arrest.

The victim, Maki Anderson, said she's grateful that it's Waller's turn to pay.

"It's a day we've all waited for for a very long time," she said. "I saw his face when I was in fear, this time I get to see his face when he's in fear."

Waller had been living in Benicia and was arrested as he showed up to work on Thursday, Sept. 20, at U.C. Berkeley. He did not enter a plea at the arraignment.
