REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the Henderson open space near the Sacramento River at about 10:30 a.m.

Based off of witnesses and findings at the scene, the fire was determined to be intentionally ignited and is a part of an active investigation, according to the Redding Fire Department.

The fire was located in an established transient camp and in an area of numerous other encampments and private property along the river.

Due to the terrain and location of the land, access to the area was difficult and required equipment to be transported on foot and by 4-wheel drive vehicles.
