South Fire: 5,209 acres and 61% containment

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The South Fire burning in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, west of Red Bluff has grown to 5,209 acres. The fire has reached 61% containment as of Sept. 21. The cause of the fire is due to lightning. 

The fire started Thursday, Sept. 5 approximately at 1:45 p.m. According to Inciweb, their estimated containment date is Tuesday, Oct. 1.
