Shasta-Trinity National Forest Lightning Complex consists of 10 fires

Ten fires were confirmed as part of the Lightning Complex that started during the evening of Thursday, May 13, 2021.

SHASTA-TRINITY NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. - Firefighters with the US Forest Service are keeping a close eye on ten fires that started from lightning on Thursday, May 13, 2021. As of Monday morning, the largest of the ten fires was marked as 2.5 acres in size.

There are no closures or evacuations relating to these fires, according to the National Forest Service.

Here is a list of the current fires burning witin the Shasta-Trinity National Forest that are part of the May 2021 Lightning Complex:

Trinity River Management Unit (Big Bar, Weaverville)

  • Waldorf Fire (Wilderness) has burned 1/4 acres and is contained.
  • Logan Fire (Wilderness, on Manzanita Ridge, visible from Highway 299 near Helena) has burned .75 acres, staffed by a Type 2 Initial Attack crew and an engine.
  • North Fire (Wilderness, also on Manzanita Ridge) single-tree snag, staffed by 3 smoke jumpers and one engine.
  • Corral Fire (near Corral Bottom) 1.5 acres, staffed with an engine and a type 2 crew.
  • Linton Fire (East side of Trinity Lake, visible from the lake yesterday) 2.5 acres, hit hard yesterday with aircraft, held overnight. Staffed by Shasta Lake IHC, an engine, and a water tender from Trinity Center VFD. Aircraft is also committed. Crews will work to get hose around the fire on Sunday.

South Fork Management Unit (Hayfork)

  • Pelletreau Fire burned 1/10th of an acre and is contained.
  • Grassy Fire burned 1/10th of an acre.

Shasta Lake District (Shasta Lake)

  • Brock Fire has burned 1/10 acre.

Shasta McCloud Management Unit (Mt. Shasta)

  • Deer Fire has burned 2 acres
  • Zot (Yellow Jacket Fire) 1/10 acre
