OROVILLE, Calif. - The playground of Plumas Avenue School in Oroville was the scene of a fire on Sunday.

The fire was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. The Oroville Fire Department and CAL FIRE Butte Unit responded. The fire was burning rubber mulch that was on the playground that was made out of recycled materials.

Viewer Kyle Wills is a parent of a student who attends the school. He says the school does not have very much money and will be hard-pressed to replace the damaged playground equipment. Wills sent us the photos of the fire that you can see in our Photo Gallery.

Action News Now is reaching out to the Oroville Fire Department to get more information on the fire and its cause.

It's been a warm and windy day for northern California with isolated showers breaking out over the higher terrain. We aren't done with the windy weather quite yet, but a quieter and warmer pattern is coming soon.
