North Fire 100 Percent Contained

Cal Fire Firefighters and the Placer County Sheriff's office are responding to a vegetation fire in the Emigrant Gap area of Placer County.

UPDATE 8:44 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 - The North Fire is now 100 percent contained. The blaze charred 1,120 acres in Placer County. 


UPDATE 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 - The North Fire remains at 1,120 acres but is now 97 percent contained. 


UPDATE 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 - The North Fire remained the same overnight at 1,120 acres and 85 percent containment. 


UPDATE 9:19 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 - The North Fire stayed at 1,120 acres overnight but jumped to 85 percent containment. 


UPDATE 3:33 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 - The North Fire is now 1,120 acres and is 77 percent contained. 


UPDATE 8:58 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 - The North Fire remains at 1,274 acres but is now 43 percent contained. 


UPDATE 12:51 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 - The North Fire is now 1,274 acres and is 17 percent contained. 


UPDATE 10:16 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 - The North Fire is now 999 acres and is 10 percent contained. 

People are being allowed back into the Snowflower RV park only, between 10 am to 2:00 pm today, August 5th, to collect belongings. Authorized personnel will be at the entrance to monitor.


UPDATE 9:13 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 - The North fire has grown to 500 acres and is 10 percent contained. 

Evacuations are in place for the following areas: 

- Yuba Gap Road at I-80 

- Emigrant Gap Road at I-80 

- Crystal Lake Road at Lake Valley Road 

- Onion Valley Campground

- North Fork Campground

- Tunnel Mills Campground

- Lodgepole Campground

- Silvertip Campground 

- Sunflower Campground

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. - Cal Fire Firefighters are responding to a 200-acre fire, dubbed the North Fire, in the area of Emigrant Gap. 

The fire started just after 4 p.m., according to the Placer County Sheriff's office.

Evacuations are in place for North Fork Campground, Onion Valley Campground and Tunnel Mills Campground on Texas Hill Road.
