Zogg Fire reaches 100% containment

After 16 days since the Zogg Fire started, it is now 100% contained.

Shasta Co, Calif. - 16 days after the Zogg Fire started - it has now reached 100% containment.

Shasta County Health Officer Dr. Karen Ramstrom declared a local health emergency Friday for Shasta County as a result of the Zogg Fire. This declaration may provide access to state and federal resources necessary for recovery. It is scheduled to be ratified by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors at an emergency session this week.

A Local Assistance Center (LAC) is opening up soon for fire victims.

At LAC centers survivors can usually talk to representatives from FEMA, get a FEMA case number, and connect with services from government agencies and non-profits. They often get help replacing things like driver's licenses, vehicle ownership documents, and social security cards.  Connections to counseling and philanthropic organizations also occur at LAC centers. Anyone who has been displaced by the fire should check in to see what services are available at the Zogg Fire LAC, opening Wednesday, Oct. 21, for one week only.

The location of the LAC center for the Zogg Fire is at the Shasta District Fair & Event Center in Fusaro Hall. The address is 1890 Briggs Street in Anderson.

The center will open Wednesday, Oct. 14, and will close one week later on Wednesday, Oct. 21. You can visit the center between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Zogg Mine Road at South Fork Road will be open to residents for 24-hours only beginning at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9.

The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, reported by CAL FIRE at Zogg Fire is burning at Zogg Mine Road and Horse Canyon Way.

Thankfully, the wind is cooperating much better today in northern California. Our weather is still quite hot for this time of year and very dry. There is plenty of haze and smoke from the Fawn Fire overhead, and it isn't leaving yet.
