Murphy Fire Burns 100 Acres, Precautionary Evacuations in Place

Cal Fire is responding to a fire off of Murphy's Creek northwest of CA Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon.

UPDATE 10:04 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 - Highway 70 is down to one lane of controlled traffic to allow for the safety of firefighting crews and equipment in the area. 

The campgrounds are open, but the Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Belden, north to Highway 36 near Chester.

BELDEN, Calif. - Cal Fire is responding to a fire that has grown to 100 acres near Murphy's Creek northwest of CA Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon. 

The Murphy Fire Incident Commander has advised that the Plumas County Sheriff has issued a Precautionary Evacuation notice for the enclaves including the Little Indian Creek area, Belden, Belden Town and Little Haven. 

An evacuation center is being set up at the Veteran's Hall in the Senior Nutrition Center located at 274 Lawrence Street, Quincy.
