SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - Tuesday, July 23, marks one year since the Carr Fire broke out in Shasta County.

Action News Now spoke with one man who is channeling the emotions regarding the fire into a song of hope for everyone who has survived a California wildfire.

Bruce Muller said if a song could take him back to a moment or place instantly, it would be to July, 26, 2018, the day the Carr Fire swept across Shasta County.

The whole place was just... I mean, the house next door was gone,"Muller said.

He said he remembers packing that day. He had his family photos, a change of clothes, his wife and this guitar. That guitar has become a companion on the journey of recovery after the fire.

Although their home was spared, he said the pain of what they saw and losing more than half of their property is still hard to talk about. So, he decided to write about it.

"Every line I mean was therapy for me," he said. "I wept for hours."

Muller eventually came up with Summer Snow, a song about tragedy, loss, hope and rebuilding. He said the song brings faith and forgiveness one year later.

Muller says he has added a full copy of Summer Snow to Youtube for everyone to share in this time of recovery. Watch the video below. Mobile users, CLICK HERE.
