BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A group of local artists is taking pieces of the past and turning them into the future this holiday season.
The group is transforming what used to be the Honey Run Covered Bridge, which was destroyed in the Camp Fire, into Christmas ornaments.
The ornaments are being sold to help raise money to build a new bridge.
Artists salvaged five sheets of the metal roofing from the bridge, then mand-made them into heart-shaped Christmas ornaments.
There have been long lines a few local stores, like Made in Chico, to purchase the ornaments.
All proceeds go to the Honey Run Covered Bridge Association's rebuild fund, which has raised more than 17,000 so far.
Ornaments are being sold for $20 at the following stores (limited availability):
Hughes Hardwoods - 13586 CA-99, Chico
Made in Chico - 127 W 3rd St, Chico
Bird in Hand - 320 Broadway St, Chico
Ornaments sold out at all three locations within the first hour. Follow the Rebuild the Honey Run Covered Bridge Association Facebook Page to find out when ornaments will be back in stock.
