CHICO, Calif. - Several calls have come in since approximately 3:00 p.m. on Sunday reporting fires or heavy smoke many areas of Chico.

The calls were from all over the city, including Upper Bidwell Park and Pleasant Valley High School.

At 3:19 p.m. on Sunday the Chico Fire Department reports that there are no active fires in the city at this time. They believe the smoke is from agricultural burns to the south.

They would like citizens to refrain from calling unless they see actual flames, not just smoke in the sky.

The first weekend of autumn was pleasant for northern California, but our relatively tranquil weather will change soon. A Pacific storm is approaching the West Coast, and it will bring our area rain showers and gusty wind soon.
