Vegetation fire south of Oroville contained

Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire that started south of Oroville Monday afternoon.

OROVILLE, Calif. - Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire that started south of Oroville Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out around noon on Highway 70 cross of East Gridley Road.

The fire burned 3 acres. Firefighters were able to save a barn, no other structures were damaged or lost. CAL FIRE crews will be out in the area for a portion of the afternoon to mop up and watch for hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The North State is currently under a Red Flag Warning due to dry and windy conditions. CAL FIRE is halting burns across the area for Monday and Tuesday due to hazardous conditions.

Gusty winds and very dry conditions will drive high fire danger across northern California on Thursday. We'll also end up much cooler on Thursday afternoon. Lighter winds, hotter temperatures, and more widespread impacts to air quality are ahead for Friday and Saturday.
