Firefighters quickly contain vegetation fire near Thermalito Afterbay

Firefighters quickly contained a vegetation fire that broke out late Thursday night near the Thermalito Forebay.

OROVILLE, Calif. - Firefighters quickly contained a vegetation fire that broke out late Thursday night near the Thermalito Forebay.

Rick Carhart, public information officers for Cal Fire Butte Co. tells Action News Now a call came in about a fire about 10:12 p.m. Thursday.

The fire burned in the area of Highway 162 and Wilbur Road just west of Oroville.

When firefighters arrived they found a fire about 1/10th of an acre. Crews quickly put out the flames in a few minutes. 

The fire charred dry vegetation and there were no homes threatened at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation.
