Firefighters are battling Cottage Fire in Shasta County

UPDATE: Cottage Fire is now 100% contained

UPDATE 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 - CAL FIRE has announced that the 156-acre Cottage Fire is now 100% contained.

UPDATE 7:03 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 - With the acreage remaining the same, the fire now 90% contained.

Firefighters have made good progress and will continue to mop up overnight.

Residents traveling through the area are asked to drive with caution as fire personal continue to work in the area.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 - The Cottage Fire combined total of the fires is 156 acres 70% contained.

UPDATE 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 - All evacuations have been lifted and all roads are open.

The Sheriff's office warns to be cautious and alert of public safety personnel who will be remaining in the area.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 - One fire is now at 57 acres with the other at 77 acres.

The combined total of the fires is 134 acres and is 30% contained.

Forward progress has been stopped.

For the evacuation center, it will close tonight at 7 p.m but evacuations and road closures still stand.

UPDATE 5:32 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 - Additional road closures have been issued for C Bar Ranch Road at Dersch Road, as well as Frey Road at Dersch Road.

Ash Creek Road at Parkville Road and Black Butte Road at Wild Cat Road have also been closed.

UPDATE 4:02 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 -  Firefighters continue to battle the Cottage Fire. The two fires that have merged are 60 acres, one fire is 50 acres.

UPDATE 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 - Another evacuation center will be opening up due to the Cottage Fire. 

Red Cross evacuation center will open at the Junction Elementary School in Palo Cedro.

UPDATE 3:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 - Structures are threatened and evacuations are in order for South of Dersh Road and East of Deschutes to Ask Creek.

An evacuation shelter is being set up at Hawes Ranch & Farm Supply. 

Road closures in place for the following locations: Dersch Road between Highway 44 and Millville Plains Road and Ash Creek Road at Parkville Road.

Two fires are 30 acres and one fire is 5 acres.
