REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department sent five engines and 18 people out to fight a structure fire in the 19000 block of Carnegie Court in Redding late Saturday night.
It was just after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, when the response to the fire burning a two-story single-family home started.
According to the Redding Fire Department, they were able to knock the fire down but needed to wait for the arrival of Redding Electric Utility (REU) workers to shut the power off so they could finish putting out the fire.
They were able to keep the fire to the outside of the home, the attic, and the garage. They determined that the cause of the fire was electrical and that it started at the breaker panel.
A word of advice from Redding Fire is for homeowners to keep at least three feet of clearance around all circuit breaker panels.
Three people were in the home when the fire started. There were no injuries. The fire was contained in less than a half an hour.
Damage to the home was estimated at $425,000. Contents valued at approximately $20,000 were destoryed during the fire incident.
