CHICO, Calif. – Crews have stopped forward progress on a small fire at Wildwood Park in Chico.
Chico Fire Department, Battalion Chief, John Kelso, told Action News Now the fire broke out around 2:22 p.m. The fire was around the size of a garbage can but quickly grew to two acres in size.
Forward progress on the fire was stopped about 20 minutes after the call.
Kelso said the fire was started by a misfired rocket that landed in dry vegetation igniting it. The individual was also the one who called 9-1-1 and is being cooperative with the investigation.
