REDDING, Calif. - Redding firefighters knocked down a fire at a homeless camp early Wednesday morning.

The fire happened near Highway 273 and Clear Creek. Firefighters said the flames burned a multiple tents, a small spot of vegetation, and a large amount of garbage located in the camp.

It took crews two hours to complete mop up. The Redding Fire Department is reminding everyone that green belts are still very dry and not meant for people to camp in due to no proper safety measures in place like designated camp grounds have.

The fire department also asks residents to report any illegal camps. To do so, click here.
