After nearly three months and thousands of personnel, the August Complex is now 100% contained.

KHSL (3:07 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2020) - After nearly three months and thousands of personnel, the August Complex is now 100% contained. The fire burned 1,032,648 acres. Fire officials made the announcement the evening of Sunday, Nov. 15.

The blaze originated as 37 separate fires in the Mendocino National Forest on Aug. 17, when California was hit by thousands of lightning strikes. Many of the fires merged and others have since been added. The complex grew to cover parts of Glenn, Mendocino, Lake, Tehama and Trinity counties.
