PARADISE, Calif. - Traffic on the Paradise Ridge was at a standstill again on the Upper Skyway, at Old Skyway and Pentz Rd. Wednesday afternoon. This time the traffic stoppage was attributed to the stalling of a California Highway Patrol pilot car in Magalia.

Drivers going in both directions were stalled sometime around 1 p.m., and traffic was still not cleared by 2:30 p.m. when our reporter was finally able to leave the area.

A California Highway Patrol officer told Action News Now reporter Laura Eng that the long delay was caused by the stalled pilot car. Traffic was blocked in both directions on the Skyway, Eng said.

Eng was stopped at the intersection of Old Skyway and Skyway for at least 40 minutes before she was allowed to detour to get information out to our viewers about the delayed traffic.

Residents were using Pentz Road to Skyway to reach Magalia to check on or return to their properties.

Many people have been stuck in Magalia for several days due to the inability to drive thru Paradise for access and supplies. They had been driving back and forth through Butte Meadows, which has been impacted with snow and slippery, wet conditions. Others were coming up to check on their properties for the first time.
