REDDING, Calif. – The presidential election is fast approaching and here in California, every registered voter will have a ballot mailed to them.

But even with the ballot coming through the mail, the Shasta County Office of Elections will be opening all of its polling police.

Ballots will be mailed to voters on October 5. But if people want to vote in person, they can. But the Office of Elections is asking voters to bring their mailed ballots with them.

“We are asking folks to be patient and we are, for the first time, asking folks to vote early,” said Cathy Darling Allen, the Shasta County Clerk of Registrar Voters.

“If you know who you want to vote for and you get your ballot in the mail on the first week in October, go ahead and send it back to us or deliver it back to us in person.”

“It's a very important time in our world right now and in America,” said Ramona Black of Redding. “We need to get out and tell people what we believe and we need to vote.”

The Office of Elections says people working the polls will be wearing masks and will also be sanitizing polling booths after each use. The booths will also be more spaced out to allow for social distancing.

The Office of Elections says it is expecting a big turnout for the November 3 election.

Tuesday was another beautiful day for northern California as a cold front began to bear down on the West Coast. We can expect increasing clouds late tonight, stronger breezes, and a chance for mountain rain and snow showers.
