Recap: Chicago vs. Dallas
Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Antoine Roussel scored a penalty-shot goal in the third period and it was the game-winner as Dallas defeated Chicago, 4-3, at United Center.
Alex Chiasson, Valeri Nichushkin and Erik Cole all scored for the Stars, who snapped a six-game losing streak to Chicago.
"We got some lucky goals and some good bounces," said Roussel. "They played hard tonight, but we were able to get the two points."
Dallas also snapped a two-game losing streak thanks in large part to Kari Lehtonen, who turned away 47 shots in the win.
Nick Leddy, Patrick Sharp and Johnny Oduya all scored in the second period for Chicago, which had a six-game winning streak broken. Corey Crawford gave up all four goals on 18 shots.
Chicago had rallied from a 3-0 hole in the second period, but Roussel was awarded a penalty shot at 3:01 of the third when he was hooked by Niklas Hjalmarsson on a breakaway.
Skating in on the free shot, Roussel swung wide to the left before cutting to the front and lifting a backhander past Crawford for a 4-3 lead.
Lehtonen then did his part, stopping all 16 Chicago shots in the final frame to give his team the victory.
"We were able to get ourselves back into the game, but weren't able to finish it off," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville. "It was a dud to start, but it wasn't a total dud game for us."
Dallas got on the board at 13:47 of the first period when Cody Eakin brought the puck in down the middle and left it for Nichushkin, who wristed it home for his third of the season.
It was a 2-0 game with 1:10 to play in the first as Dallas scored on the power play. Alex Goligoski's slap shot from the high slot was tipped in by Chiasson in front of the net.
The Stars took a 3-0 lead at 3:07 of the second as Nichushkin centered the puck from the right side of the net and Cole chipped it in for his third of the year.
Chicago got one back at 9:39 as Sharp's blast from the right point on the power play cruised past Lehtonen.
At 16:09 of the second the Blackhawks made it a 3-2 game on Leddy's one-timer from the right circle, and the visitors tied the game 1:05 later on Oduya's blast from the left point.Game Notes
