St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn ACL.

The Rams confirmed the news Monday morning on their Twitter account after an MRI exam revealed the severity of the injury.

Bradford was hurt during Sunday's game against Carolina and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Monday that he will undergo surgery in a few weeks.

Panthers safety Mike Mitchell pushed Bradford out of bounds on a scramble during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 30-15 loss. Though Bradford was able to walk off the field, he was carted to the locker room from the sideline.

Bradford had thrown for 1,687 yards with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions in seven games this season.

The Oklahoma product had been the Rams' starter since the club selected him with the top overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. He has thrown for 11,065 yards with 59 touchdowns and 38 interceptions in 49 games, all starts.

Kellen Clemens will take over under center for the Rams, who are 3-4 this season.
