Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia will miss the remainder of the season because of a left hamstring injury.

The Yankees said the left-hander was hurt during his last start on Friday against San Francisco when he threw seven strong innings in a 5-1 victory. Tests revealed a Grade 2 strain, which will take about eight weeks to heal.

Sabathia likely had just one more start in what has been a difficult season, as the Yankees begin the week with faint playoff hopes. New York has six games remaining and sits four games behind Cleveland for the final wild card spot in the American League.

In 32 starts this year, Sabathia has a mark of just 14-13 with a career-worst 4.78 earned run average. He won't reach 15 wins for the first time in five seasons as a Yankee and for the first time 2006 with Cleveland.
