Recap: Fairfield vs. Richmond

Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Terry Allen tallied 16 points as the Richmond Spiders defeated the Fairfield Stags, 68-47, in championship round action of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip Off at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Allen was 6-of-9 from the field and made all four of his free-throw attempts for Richmond (4-2). Derrick Williams and ShawnDre' Jones added 11 points each while Alonzo Nelson-Ododa managed nine points and eight rebounds.

The Stags (1-5) were led by Marcus Gilbert who was the lone double-figurer scorer for the squad with 10 points. Gilbert shot just 3-of-13 from the field and was 0-of-5 from beyond the arc. Coleman Johnson contributed seven points and seven rebounds as Fairfield lost its fifth straight game after opening the season with a win.

After shooting 48.0 percent from the floor in the first half, Richmond carried a 36-17 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Spiders made 18-of-22 shots from the charity stripe to take the win.

Richmond shot 26-of-32 from the free-throw line throughout the game and held Fairfield to just 2-of-19 shooting from 3-point range.
