Recap: Marist vs. Loyola Marymount
St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Ireland scored a game-high 25 points and handed out six assists as the Loyola Marymount Lions posted a 76-70 win over the Marist Red Foxes in a consolation matchup of the Paradise Jam.
Also scoring in double figures for the Lions (5-1) were Ben Dickinson and Gabe Levin with 11 points apiece, the latter pulling down nine rebounds.
The Red Foxes (0-6) were paced by Chavaughn Lewis with 19 points, shooting a perfect 7-of-7 at the free-throw line, while Jay Bowie and Adam Kemp pitched in with 16 and 11 points, respectively.
Marist led by as many as 13 points in the first half, shooting 4-of-8 behind the 3-point line and 9-of-11 at the charity stripe in the period, but the team had to hold on for a 33-32 edge at the break.
In the second half LMU erupted for 59.3 percent accuracy from the floor to grab the lead and hold on down the stretch.
In a game that featured nine ties and four lead changes, the Lions shot an even 50.0 percent from the field.Game Notes
