Recap: Drexel vs. William & Mary
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton nailed a 3-pointer as time expired to lift the William & Mary Tribe to a 68-66 win over the Drexel Dragons in a Colonial Athletic Association thriller at the Daskalakis Center.
Thornton finished with 26 points, knocking down 6-of-7 shots from beyond the arc in the process, to lead William & Mary (11-7, 3-2 CAA). Tim Rusthoven tacked on 15 points and Omar Prewitt chipped in 10.
Chris Fouch scored a game-high 31 points to pace Drexel (10-9, 2-4), which has lost three of its last four. Frantz Massenat added 19 points.
Drexel entered halftime leading 38-29. The Dragons shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the opening frame, including a 6-of-13 showing from 3-point range. William & Mary hit on 50 percent in period.
The two squads traded leads 10 times in the second half. Fouch earned the ninth with a jumper that pushed the Dragons ahead with nine seconds to play. However, Thornton then drilled the game-winner on the other end.
The Tribe had a 14-5 scoring edge from the free-throw line.Game Notes
