Recap: Siena vs. Quinnipiac
Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Zaid Hearst finished with 25 points and eight rebounds as the Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Siena Saints, 103-95, in an overtime Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at The Times Union Center.
Umar Shannon scored 21 points while Ike Azotam added 19 for the Bobcats (13-8, 8-4 MAAC), who have won two of their last three. Ousmane Drame registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards, and Shaq Shannon chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds.
Rob Poole tallied 26 points while Brett Bisping had 20 for the Saints (10-13, 6-6), who snapped a three-game winning streak. Marquis Wright logged a double- double with 18 points and 10 assists, while Lavon Long scored 16.
Quinnipiac shot 44 percent from the floor in the first period as they led 41-37 at the half. Siena made 41.9 percent of its field goal attempts and took six more shots in the half.
The Saints came out of the break and connected on 56.7 percent of their field goal tries. With 28 seconds left, Umar Shannon converted a 3-point play to tie the game up at 85. Poole missed a 3-point shot attempt with one second to send the game to overtime.
The Bobcats outscored Siena 18-10 in the extra period as they went 16-of-20 from the free-throw line to create some space and ensure the victory.
Siena committed a school-record 40 fouls which led to 65 free-throw attempts for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats only had eight assists on the night, and outscored the Saints 47-25 at the free-throw line.Game Notes
