Recap: Milwaukee vs. Green Bay
Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Keifer Sykes scored a career-high 34 points, as the Green Bay Phoenix edged out the Milwaukee Panthers in a 90-86 overtime win at U.S. Cellular Arena in Horizon League play.
Sykes went 13-of-28 from the field for the Phoenix (13-3, 3-0 Horizon), who extended their winning streak to eight games. Alec Brown (19 points), Jordan Fouse (11) and Greg Mays (11) also scored in double figures, with Fouse adding nine rebounds and seven assists.
Jordan Aaron netted 26 points on 9-of-19 from the floor to lead the Panthers (12-6, 2-2), who have lost two of their last three. Kyle Kelm recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Matt Tiby (20 points), Austin Arians (15) and Steve McWhorter (10) were the other double-digit scorers.
The Panthers shot 40 percent from the field in the game's opening half, and hit 9-of-10 at the free-throw line. The Phoenix, however, were slightly more consistent at 45.9 percent and took a 42-38 lead into halftime.
In the second half, both teams' field goal shooting improved with the Phoenix at 50 percent and the Panthers at 59.4 percent. Milwaukee led by seven with 3:29 to play, but Green Bay's 10-3 run to finish regulation ended with a Sykes layup with 43 seconds left to knot it at 82 and send the game into overtime.
The Phoenix took that momentum into the overtime period, where they never trailed and allowed just four points to come away victorious.
Green Bay outscored its opponent in the paint (48-36), in points off turnovers (21-18) and second-chance points (22-12) in a game that had seven lead changes.Game Notes
