Recap: Detroit vs. Oakland

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Petros posted a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Oakland Golden Grizzlies over the Detroit Titans 77-69 in Horizon League action at Calihan Hall.

For the Golden Grizzlies (7-12, 2-2 Horizon), Duke Mondy added 18 points, Travis Bader finished with 14 points and Kahlil Felder scored 12.

Juwan Howard Jr. led the Titans (8-10, 1-2) with 15 points, Evan Bruinsma scored 14 and Matthew Grant chipped in with 12 points.

Detroit shot 44.8 percent from the field to start the game, hitting on 2-of-8 from 3-point distance, as the Titans went into halftime leading 33-25. They held Oakland to just 36 percent shooting from the field in the first and 3- of-12 from beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Golden Grizzlies found their range from deep, connecting on 6-of-13 from 3-point distance, shooting 45.7 percent overall from the floor. Oakland also held a 14-2 scoring advantage from the free-throw line in the period. The Titans were hot from the floor after halftime, hitting on 57.1 percent of their field goal tries in the second. With the score tied at 68-68 with 2:31 to play, the Monarchs finished the contest on a 9-1 run to secure the victory.

Oakland made the most of Detroit's mistakes, forcing 12 Titan turnovers and converting them into 25 points. The Golden Grizzlies had the advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Titans 40-29.
