Recap: Ohio vs. Buffalo
Athens, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Javon McCrea netted 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Buffalo Bulls edged out the Ohio Bobcats, 69-64, in a Mid-American Conference battle at the Convocation Center.
Joshua Freelove chipped in with 14 points, and Jarod Oldham scored 13 with four rebounds and three steals for Buffalo (17-8, 11-4 MAC), which now owns a two-game lead in the MAC East Division with three games left to play. Will Regan contributed 10 points in the win, which was the third in a row for the Bulls.
Nick Kellogg scored a game-high 18 points and added five rebounds for the Bobcats (19-9, 9-6). Jon Smith tallied 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting in the loss, which was the second in three games for Ohio.
Buffalo came out strong in the first half by netting 51.5 percent of its field goal attempts, and took a commanding 42-27 lead into the midway break. Ohio hit 44 percent of its shot tries, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range in the frame.
The Bulls dropped their shooting accuracy down to 34.5 percent in the second half, missing all five 3-point attempts in the period. The Bobcats made a furious comeback attempt, netting 46.2 percent of their shots and outscored Buffalo in the half, 37-27. But it came up just short, and the Bulls earned the five-point win.
Buffalo forced 14 Ohio turnovers, and won the battle in points off turnovers, 26-7. The Bulls also had the edge in second chance points, 15-5. Ohio outscored Buffalo from 3-point range, 24-6.Game Notes
