Recap: Akron vs. Eastern Mich

Akron, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Demetrius Treadwell logged 17 points and 14 rebounds, as the Akron Zips used a late run to come from behind and defeat the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 52-48, in a Mid-American Conference showdown at James A. Rhodes Arena.

Nick Harney also tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Akron (15-7, 7-2 MAC), winners of four of its last five contests.

For EMU (12-10, 4-5), Daylen Harrison and Darell Combs both scored 10 points.

EMU took control of the contest in the first half, shooting 41.8 percent from the field while holding Akron to just 24.1 percent from the floor en route to a 27-18 lead at intermission.

The Eagles' advantage extended to 12 midway through the second stanza, but the Zips refused to roll over, as they pieced together a 17-3 run to take a two- point lead with 42 seconds left on a Harney layup. Akron put the game on ice by shooting 4-of-6 from the free-throw line the rest of the way.

Neither Akron (3-of-23) nor EMU (2-of-11) impressed from beyond the arc. The Zips never led in the matchup prior to their game-winning bucket.
