Recap: VA Commonwealth vs. Old Dominion
Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Juvonte Reddic registered a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams coasted to a 69-48 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs in a non-conference tilt at the Siegel Center.
Treveon Graham added 13 points and five assists for VCU (8-2) while Terrance Shannon pulled down eight rebounds in 13 minutes of action.
Aaron Bacote and Keenan Palmore scored 13 points each for ODU (4-5). Richard Ross led the Monarchs on the glass with nine rebounds and also blocked four shots.
Although they did not attempt a free throw in the first half, the Monarchs went into the break facing a narrow, 34-31, deficit. VCU knocked down only 37.1 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes of play.
ODU was limited to 25 percent shooting from the floor and connected on only 2- of-8 attempts from beyond the arc after halftime. VCU outrebounded the visitors, 29-16, in the second period.
The Rams tallied 30 second-chance points and received 22 points from their reserves. ODU did not receive any scoring help from its bench and was held to nine second-chance points.Game Notes
