Recap: Washington vs. Long Beach State

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Anderson tallied a double-double as one of six players in double figures for the Washington Huskies, who outlasted the Long Beach State 49ers, 92-89, in double overtime at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Anderson notched a team-high 19 points and game-high 16 rebounds for the Huskies (4-3). Andrew Andrews (18 points), Perris Blackwell (18), C.J. Wilcox (15), Nigel Williams-Goss (10) and Darin Johnson (10) provided the rest of the offensive firepower.

Mike Caffey scored 28 points for the 49ers (1-7) and handed out with nine assists. Dan Jennings (22 points), A.J. Spencer (12) and David Samuels (11) were the team's other players in double figures.

At halftime, the Huskies claimed a slight 38-37 lead. While they could only make 11-of-29 from the floor in the opening half (.379), it included five made 3-pointers, and the team was also able to hit 11-of-12 from the free-throw line.

LBSU led for most of second half, shooting a confident 54.5 percent from the field, including 3-of-4 from long distance. With 13 seconds left in regulation, a Caffey layup put the 49ers ahead by a point, but they put Williams-Goss at the free-throw line on Washington's next possession, where he made one to tie the game at 78, sending it into overtime.

Caffey again came through in the clutch, sinking a 3-pointer and another layup in the final minute of the first overtime to knot the game at 85 and forcing a second extra period.

With four seconds left in the second overtime, Caffey was unable to hit a shot from long range that could have sent the game to a third overtime, and the 49ers fell.

Despite shooting at a 50 percent clip from the field for the game, the 49ers lacked discipline and sent the Huskies to the free-throw line 30 times, where they converted 25 points. Washington also brought down more rebounds (46-39) and outscored the 49ers 25-10 on second-chance points.
