Recap: Columbia vs. Brown

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Maodo Lo knocked down a pair of free-throws with 14 seconds to play, which proved to be the difference as the Columbia Lions downed the Brown Bears, 70-68, in an Ivy League matchup at Levien Gymnasium.

Alex Rosenberg scored 23 points and Meiko Lyles added 21 for Columbia (16-10, 5-4 Ivy League), which has won back-to-back games. Lo tacked on 15 points.

Sean McGonagill netted 20 points for Brown (13-10, 5-4). Leland King and Cedric Kuakumensah each added 12 points.

The Bears held a slight edge at halftime (37-36) after shooting 53.3 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes. The Lions only shot at a 36.7 percent clip, but they nailed six 3-pointers to stay close.

Brown had a 68-64 lead with 2:20 to play in the second half, but Rosenberg made a layup and Jeff Coby sank a pair of free-throws to tie things up. The Bears missed a pair of field goal attempts over the next minute before Lo hit his game-winning free-throws. Brown did get two looks to tie or win the game in the final seconds, but both were off the mark.

Columbia outscored Brown, 15-3, at the charity stripe. The Lions also had a 39-28 advantage on the glass.
