Recap: Iowa vs. MD-Eastern Shore

Iowa City, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaron White scored 22 points as seven different Hawkeyes finished in double-figures to propel Iowa past the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks for a 109-63 victory at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Melsahn Basabe added 12 points and seven boards for Iowa (3-0), while Gabriel Olaseni, Roy Devyn Marble and Peter Jok tallied 10 points apiece. Zach McCabe tallied 11 points while Jarrod Uthoff posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Mike Gesell contributed eight points and seven assists in the victory.

Isaac Smith finished with 19 points for UMES (1-2). Francis Ezeiru led the Hawks on the boards with nine rebounds.

Iowa took control right away as it jumped out to a 21-7 lead less than six minutes after the opening tip-off. The Hawkeyes shot 55.6 percent from the floor and converted 12-of-16 attempts at the free-throw line in the first half to build a 56-23 edge on the scoreboard by the intermission. UMES hit on only 25 percent of its field goal tries including just 1-of-11 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

Iowa converted 20-of-27 tries at the charity stripe in the second stanza and led by as many as 51 points.

The Hawkeyes dominated on the interior as they held a 57-37 edge in the rebounding battle and 44-28 advantage in points in the paint.
