Recap: Northwestern vs. Indiana

Evanston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Sheehey, Troy Williams, Noah Vonleh and Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell scored 12 points apiece, as the Indiana Hoosiers held off the Northwestern Wildcats, 61-56, in a Big Ten Conference bout at Welsh- Ryan Arena.

Vonleh added eight rebounds for Indiana (15-11, 5-8 Big Ten), which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Tre Demps paced all scorers with 19 points as Northwestern (12-16, 5-10) extended its losing streak to a season-long five games. Alex Olah tallied a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts.

Vonleh connected on a layup just before the halftime buzzer sounded to give Indiana a 32-30 lead heading into intermission. The Hoosiers shot 45.2 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, while the Wildcats were slightly better (.458) but on seven fewer attempts.

Indiana extended its advantage to 12 early in the second half thanks to a 12-2 run, and Northwestern was never able to get closer than four points of the lead the rest of the way.

The Hoosiers overcame poor showings from 3-point range (4-of-15) and the free- throw line (9-of-18) by committing just seven turnovers.
