Recap: Davidson vs. Georgia

Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 21 points and eight rebounds from De'Mon Brooks, the Davidson Wildcats downed the Georgia Bulldogs, 94-82, in an opening round matchup in the Charleston Classic at TD Arena

For the Wildcats (1-3), Brian Sullivan added 20 points, Jordan Barham finished with 18 points and Jack Gibbs chipped in with 13 points. With the win, Davidson will now take on Clemson in Friday night's semifinal matchup.

Nemanja Djurisic led the Bulldogs (1-2) with 19 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Charles Mann dropped in 18 points, Kenny Gaines scored 13 points and Cameron Forte finished with 10 points. Georgia faces Temple in Friday's consolation bracket contest.

Georgia shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance. Davidson wasn't quite as sharp, making 46.2 percent of its field goal tries, but did connect on 5-of-10 from beyond the arc and outscored Georgia at the free-throw line, 17-5. The Wildcats scored the final seven points of the half, finishing off a 16-6 run, and took a 46-36 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs continued to shoot well after intermission, hitting on 62.5 percent of their field goal attempts and 2-of-5 from 3-point range. The Wildcats shot 43.8 percent and just 3-of-14 from 3-point range. After Georgia cut the deficit to six, 50-44, early in the second, the Wildcats responded with another run and pushed the margin to as many as 17, as they cruised to victory.

The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs at the charity stripe, 34-19. Davidson committed a season-low five turnovers and forced 16 Georgia miscues, turning them into 18 points.
