The chico man accused of killing his wife made his first court appearance in a Butte County Courtroom on murder charges this afternoon. Zir Weems, 29, did not enter a plea during his three-o'clock arraignment.

Weems is charged with murdering Angelica Weems, a Chico mother of four. Zir Weems will be back in court December 4 to enter a plea. His bail was set at one-million dollars. The judge also ordered him to stay away from the Weem family if he does post bail.

Meantime, the Butte County District Attorney's Office is not saying what evidence they have on Zir Weems and investigators continue to interview witnesses. Weems was arrested by Butte County deputies last week, minutes after he posted bail on animal cruelity charges in Glenn County.

Angelica Weems was reported missing on September 14th. Her body was found by family members October 5th.
