YUBA CITY, Calif. - Authorities have charged a California man with killing his brother after discovering what they believe to be the brother's dismembered remains at his house.
The Sacramento Bee reports that the Yuba County Sheriff's Department believes 57-year-old Timothy Coop killed his brother, Thomas Cope, whose age was not given.
Coop lives in Olivehurst, about 40 miles north of Sacramento.
Sheriff's officials contacted Coop after his brother, Cope, was reported missing from nearby Butte County. Investigators say they searched Coops house after he made inconsistent statements about his brother's whereabouts.
Officials are waiting for an autopsy to confirm the body's identification and cause of death.
