Yuba County supervisors have voted to pass an urgency ordinance banning all outdoor marijuana grows in unincorporated areas.
The decision, effective immediately, reverses the county's current policy, which allows 18 outdoor plants on an acre or less and as many as 99 plants on 20 acres or more.
County officials have argued that illegal outdoor growing has been getting out of hand, including putting a lot of extra stress on law enforcement and the courts system.
Representatives from Pro-Pot Americans for safe access and the Yuba Patients Coalition say a referendum is already in the works to bring the matter before voters.
