The California Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle accident in Yuba County that killed one person and left another with major injuries.
The accident happened just before 11:00 a.m. Sunday when 60-year-old Fred Sommer was traveling northbound on Marysville Road, south of Peoria Road, in Browns Valley when his car drifted onto the shoulder as he was rounding a curve.
CHP investigators say the vehicle rolled, and both Sommer and his passenger were ejected from the vehicle before it collided with a tree.
The 54-year-old female passenger, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. Sommer suffered major injuries and was transported to Rideout Hospital.
Investigators say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
