RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A former California school official who sexually assaulted a student and was later confronted in a phone call posted on YouTube is going to prison.

Forty-one-year-old Andrea Cardosa was given a 10-year sentence Monday. She pleaded guilty last month to committing lewd acts on a child in a plea deal that avoided a possible life sentence.

Prosecutors say Cardosa abused a former middle school student in Riverside more than 100 times beginning when the girl was 12. Cardosa was the victim's P.E. teacher at her middle school at the time. The victim decided to come forward after she reportedly found out Cardosa was getting a promotion to Vice Prinicipal at a High School. Charges were brought after the student, who is now 28, called Cardosa in 2013 and accused her of molestation.

On the recording, Cardosa said she regrets her actions "every day."

Another former student from a Riverside County middle school came forward later to also claim that Cardosa abused her.
