A wrong-way driver was pulled from her car and arrested after leading police on a Christmas morning chase through Redding.

According to the Redding Police Department, an officer attempted to pull over 51-year-old Teresa Hart for driving the wrong-way on Shasta Street near Market Street around 10:25 a.m. Thursday, but Hart turned onto SR 44 and headed eastbound in a westbound lane.

Hart eventually merged onto Interstate 5 southbound, where officers used a spike strip to disable her 1996 Ford Explorer. After running over the spike strips Hart put the SUV in reverse and headed at police. An officer on the scene was ultimately able to pull Hart out of the vehicle and take her into custody.

Fortunately no police officers or innocent bystanders were injured as a result of Hart's reckless driving. She was booked into the Shasta County Jail for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving upon the wrong side of the roadway while attempting to evade police.
