Wounded man surrenders after standoff in South LA

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A gunman who was wounded in a shootout with Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies has surrendered after an hour-long standoff on the porch of a South Los Angeles home.

TV reports showed the man, wearing a blood-soaked T-shirt, walking down a driveway Friday evening and lying face down in the street, where he was handcuffed and waiting paramedics moved in.

TV reports say the man may have been wanted for domestic violence or kidnapping.

His white SUV was followed to a South LA neighborhood where the man got out.

TV reports indicate he was wounded in a shootout with deputies.

He stumbled to a porch and remained sitting or standing with the gun nearby as deputies covered him from the street and urged him to surrender.

No deputies were hurt.
