Chico Police have arrested Daun Slagle, 48, of Chico, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, then leading police in a short pursuit. Police say they received a 911 call just after 8:00pm Saturday. William Oiler, 35, told police he had been stabbed in the upper torso on the left side of his body by his girlfriend. When police arrived at the home on Yosemite Drive, they say Slagle had driven away in a gray Nissan Altima. Officers say they spotted Slagle's car on Bruce Road, and tried to pull her over, but she refused to stop. They say a short pursuit ensued to Forest Avenue, and then to 20th Street, where Slagle pulled in to the WinCo Foods Parking lot, where she was arrested.

Police say Oiler was hospitalized, but is expected to survive.

Slagle is the only-known survivor of serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, or the 'Happy Face Killer.' She and her baby escaped from Jesperson after encountering him in a parking lot in Mt. Shasta in 1990.

Chico Police say Slagle has been booked into the Butte County Jail on three felony charges, including 'Assault with a Deadly Weapon,' 'Domestic Battery,' and 'Evading an Officer.'
