RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California woman arrested with a trash bin containing her ex-boyfriend's body parts has been sentenced to 26 years to life in prison.
A San Bernardino County district attorney's statement says 54-year-old Carmen Montelongo of Riverside received the sentence Monday, about a month after a jury convicted her of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors said Montelongo stabbed and dismembered her 62-year-old boyfriend Samuel Wiggins in 2011.
They say she was arrested while pushing a trash bin down a street in Ontario that contained parts of Wiggins' body.
Police later found the man's head and arms in two large flower pots at her relative's home in Bell Gardens.
