ESCONDIDO, Calif. (AP) - An Orange County woman says a silver vial holding her mother's ashes was stolen when her family's SUV was broken into at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

The Union-Tribune reports Saturday that Maria Toth-Fiorentino is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the lipstick-sized tube and a note from her mother that she had stored in a Louis Vuitton bag inside the vehicle.

Toth-Fiorentino says she covered the items with a blanket last Saturday before entering the park. She says when they returned the doors to their SUV were still locked but the items were missing.

San Diego police say they have received a dozen reports of vehicle burglaries at the park in the last 14 months and believe thieves are unlocking doors with an electronic device.
