Northbound Highway 70, south of Marysville is still closed Monday morning due to flooding.

Crews have been trying to pump water out of the road as quickly as possible. The recent wet weather caused more problems than just flooding and downed trees and power lines in the area Saturday night.

Investigators said one woman was killed after a suspected drunken driver ignored a detour sign.

They say 55-year-old Neng Yang sped around the cones on highway 70, south of McGowan Parkway driving straight into the flooded road at 65 miles-per-hour.

He was able to escape from the submerged sedan, but his 51-year-old passenger ... identified as Xiong Chia of Marysville ... was not able to get out.

She was under water for an estimated 15 minutes.

Yang has been booked into the yuba county jail.

He faces charges of felony drunken driving and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
